History

Floorshow Goth Night was accidentally founded in January 2006.   Fed up that nobody was booking bands that they wanted to see in Newcastle, a small gang of friends from The Charnel House decided to do something about it.

The first gig booked was Gene Loves Jezebel with support from Rome Burns at the Carling Academy in Newcastle.   We didn't like to start small!   Although this gig lost money and overran the curfew, it did pave way for an idea to do what would become a regular band night.

Mostly using The Head of Steam, bands such as Pro-Jekt, Uninvited Guest, The Way of All Flesh and Libitina played the night, held on the 3rd Sunday of each month.   The night gave an assortment of debuts and rare treats - such as Dyonisis' first 'not-in-Sheffield' gig, plus J-Rock band Psydoll were also brought to Newcastle by the Floorshow team.

2006 ended with US Chart-toppers The Cruxshadows at Newcastle University.   This ended the year as it began, breaking both the bank and curfew!

2007 has been a bit slower on the Floorshow front.   Although there were a lot of great bands brought to Newcastle in 2006, the idea in 2007 was to simply do less events but make the events bigger.

The first event in 2007 was held in May and showcased some of the talented, new, electronic bands.   Uberbyte, Cybercide and Novus all took to stage. The Floorshow Festival was headlined by NFD in September 2007 and we rounded off the year with international acts Angelspit and Crud.

2008 has been a quiet experience, but we're back baby...
